Personal wellbeing in times of Covid

 With the onset of Coronavirus, a common matter in question that has only worsened perpetually is our health. There has been a steep rise in the cases of anxiety, obesity, overspending, infidelity and in extreme cases, domestic violence! While time and tide wait for none, soon we all are going to move towards another year and have left 2020 behind for what is was!

 While some of us have gotten used to the work from home situation, some of us are still struggling. But guess what, the struggle, the acceptance, all of it is fleeting. There are moments of self doubt, of struggle, of anxiety, of depression which we all experience, but these are followed by moments of confidence, spark, ideas and enthusiasm. But what we easily ignore is our well being in the entire process. Our physical, financial, emotional, social and mental well being. 

 With a brand new year here, it would be nice to ditch some worries and work on our well being! I bet almost none of us realized how fast this year has gone by, so let’s make the best of what’s to come as we have each other.


Here are some self care rituals for the New Year:

1) Physical well being - Sound sleep, Regular and fun workouts, Healthy cooking in the kitchen, Mastering some Yoga poses, Don't miss that early morning walk in the nature, Minimizing the use of Air Conditioners / Heating Equipments

 

2) Emotional well being - Manage your stress, Just let it go; be emotionally mature, Be kind and forgive, Be compassionate with the less fortunate; help the homeless during these difficult times

 

3) Social well being - Join some online support groups, Block all those negative people on social media, Spend time together with people you love, a snuggy dinner with your partner does the trick, Ask for help; we are in this together

 

4) Spiritual well being - Pray and show gratitude before you sleep, Connect with nature, Indulge in things that calm you, Write a Journal every night before bed, Make a little shrine for yourself, Listen to that podcast on your playlist that motivates you

 

5) Personal well being - Pursue all those hobbies that you have been procrastinating, Try to know yourself better; self reflect and work on your mistakes, Love yourself each day; give yourself a tight hug every night before bed, Have a gala time with your pets

 

6) Financial well being - Save Save Save, Budget your expenses cautiously, Focus on your life goals, Once a while just go for it; indulge in that hefty purchase 

 

7) Career well being - Maintain a schedule, Be a constant learner, Maintain boundaries with work; do not accept that late night emergency meeting call from your boss, Refresh with constant breaks; take that tiny power nap
